The start of September seems so far away now that I’m in December, and just like that, my practicum is coming to a close. I have to extend a thank you to all of Lucinda’s clients that I had the privilege of meeting and getting to see a small part of their lives. This has been a great opportunity for me to expand my skills and discover what the health coaching field is like; I’ve got lots of good tips to take away from this experience. I also have to send my biggest thanks to Lucinda. Without her willingness to accept my practicum offer I wouldn’t have had this opportunity to get my foot in the door and see the health coaching field for myself before I ventured into it.
This practicum provided me with the opportunity to participate in and have a hand in planning and running many events: the Sundre and Olds Health Expos, sitting in on client meetings, taking the grocery tour, making healthy snacks, and learning lots about kombucha (I’m currently brewing my own batch now). I also had the responsibility of re-creating Lucinda’s “30 Day Jump Start” program, which is now better than ever and will re-launch in February. I did my fair share of scheduling social media posts and even wrote a handful of informative blog posts that are up on the website too.
I am so grateful for this opportunity because I got to learn about the in’s and out’s of health coaching and all the behind the scenes work that goes into it that clients don’t see. I know this will send me in the right direction as I now look to pursue health coaching upon graduation. For all of you who I had the opportunity to meet, I wish you the best in your pursuit of health and hope you accomplish your goals.
Sincerely,
Wendy Bastos
